Got an e-mail from a viewer that I wanted to touch on today. I got an e-mail from Dave who had been looking into getting involved with affiliate marketing. A friend of his who works at a particular retailer happened to mention they pay a 12% affiliate commission. He felt that was a little low so wanted to ask what’s typical.

In this video I wanted to break down the typical affiliate commission rate for some of the more popular affiliate programs new affiliate marketers tend to go to. As you can see a 12% commission is actually pretty generous. Most affiliate programs are paying about 1% to 5%.

If you want to get those big commissions or recurring or lifetime commissions those are typically found on SAAS softwares, ebooks, and digital products as there’s really no hard cost associated with selling those. Some places to seek out those affiliate programs are Clickbank and JVZoo.
