There’s some good advice… however, why does he keep talking about bicycles and biking? This is a site about roof cargo boxes. Am I missing something here?

Very helpful interview! I suppose you could then funnel your own traffic to your own "Best Rooftop Box" type articles by using this method. On top of the sprinkled in links in your information articles.

Alex. You are correct. Ricky gave you a lot of information to think about. He really went into depth with his opinions about your site. I think I would have to look at the video several times before I start to implement changes. It would be interesting to make some of the changes he recommended and then track the response just to see how the changes "helped" your site. He did make some valid points along with some positive changes. Test and see.

This is some of the best advice you could have got Alex. I totally agree with Ricky's thinking about content. Articles about different topics like 25 Best Mountain Biking Tracks in the US would get you the volume then insert a discrete link. Like. I pack all my extra gear in a Thurl XL 100 Roof box. Etc You're off to a great start Alex and plenty of room for improvement. Every day is a school day 🙂 Nice review Ricky.

This is a perfect example of the informational model of building websites vs. buyer intent model of building websites. Why does it matter? More traffic doesn't mean more money. My informational site gets around 7 dollars per 1000 and Income School gets around 15 bucks per 1000 according to their videos. My affiliate site gets 112 dollars per 1000. That is not selling courses or having my own products. Just from Amazon. So, it all depends on how you want to approach monetization. There is no right way or wrong way and I question those that say otherwise.

Some interesting points that Ricky makes, it must be difficult having somebody else critique your projects but he seems to give very fair and constructive feedback. I was particularly interested in his earlier points about widening the funnel of potential visitors by making more general content and a minor point he made about not being so upfront about sell, sell, sell, making things a little more contextual and contained within high quality content. It's certainly something I've been looking at doing a bit with my own site recently as I was/am in a niche which is very much focused on snagging the visitor and passing them on, as quick as you can. All food for thought!
